![]() Initially known by the awkward title of M4A3 (76mm gun) with 23 inch tracks the M4A3E8 began production in August 1944 with the first combat deployment in Late December of the same year with the 3rd Army during the Battle of the Bulge around Bastogne. ![]() THIS THREAD is dedicated to the "FLAT FOOT FLOOGIE" build and thanks to " MOONSHADOW" and "TXTANKER" for doing this project! Next thing I knew "MOONSHADOW" Volunteered to whip me up a highly detailed and rare M4A3E8 named "FLAT FOOT FLOOGIE". I asked a few of my great friends in the TEXAS ARMOR ASSOCIATION R/C TANK CLUB for some ideas. Wanting a new SHERMAN in something different than the stock Tamiya M4. 005, so I wound up receiving a copper plate, not a sheet.OK. Initially I wanted to use copper but I accidentally ordered a. I used the styrene on the sides due to the fact that the weld lines were much thinner than on top and I’ve found that rolling out and handling a very thin line of putty is a P.I.T.A!įinally, I took the chance on scratch building some fenders out of soda can. First I used milliput, then Tamiya Epoxy Putty Quick Type, and third, good old styrene. I used 2 different methods and 3 different materials. So, that was taken care of as you’ll see below. Asuka also completely ignored any weld detail on the side of the tank. I needed to add some character to the build as we’ve seen above. However, I was a bit miffed to see that the weld detail on the upper hull was light and far too uniform for my tastes. I cannot say enough good things about this kit. ![]() The lower hull sports the actual bulkhead for the engine compartment and it goes together maybe better than Tamiya kits. ![]() Here’s the progress on the up-armored Easy 8…įirst off, this Asuka kit is fantastic. I’ve also taken the opportunity while living in the 90’s once again to make some serious progress on my Sherman’s. Happy Holiday’s everyone! I finally have internet back after losing it from the Xmas day bombing. ![]()
